Major: Education (This Major's Salary over time)
NIU's school of education is actually quite competitive and not nearly as easy as I thought it would be. Most of the professors are approachable and fair. The dorms are mostly old and outdated. I was lucky enough to get into Stevenson Towers which is by far the best of the dorms, the rooms have newer furniture and are almost double the size of the rooms at Grant Hall. That said, the food is not very good and fairly expensive. Stevenson has the best food with a food court, but the hours are strange and if you want anything to eat after dinner hours the lines are very long. I thought NIU would be a good university because it would be very diverse, but once I got here I found out that the blacks and whites never…never…never mingle. Watch out for fights in lobbies especially (strangely enough) among the girls. Most students who can afford to leave the dorms after their freshman year. There is a large amount of housing around the campus and you can find much nicer places to live for much less money than you pay for dorm living and dorm food.
