I came to North Central College hoping I had found my perfect college. The idea of going far away to small, friendly school where I could swim competitively seemed to be a dream come true. In retrospect, my experience at NCC has been more along the lines of a nightmare…kinda.

My biggest complaint is of the student population. If you're not an athlete, cheerleader, or anime lover then fitting in at NCC is probably going to be somewhat of a challenge as there is no social middle ground. Cliques are formed around the various sports teams (god help you if you aren't in one). If you're a hippie, punk, goth, hipster, druggie or average person, be prepared to be a loner.
The surrounding area isn't that great either. Naperville is a tiny town with little to offer other than overpriced restaurants and stores. The people are none to friendly either. Snotty high school students overrun the sidewalks and simply entering some of the stores will warrant an eye-roll from its employees.

Maybe I haven't gotten the real NCC experience. Perhaps I'm in the wrong major or I'm not appreciating what NCC has to offer. Despite this, I have an undeniable feeling that I have wasted two years of my life here. Unless you have grown up in Naperville, I would recommend avoiding North Central all together.
