I had initial apprehensions about going to SJU because of it's stereotype of bratty and wealthy kids from the tri-state area…and yes, while there are people who fit that mold, there are also many people who completely shatter this notion. The greatest thing about SJU for me is it's commitment to serving the greater community. There are so many opportunities to immerse yourself in local and far-away communities, and I love that!

Academics here are pretty good. The Business School is especially top notch, and I know a lot of people who have gone on to get great jobs coming out of that school. As for the Arts and Sciences, I really think there is a challenging, yet fair curriculum. My department has been great at providing me with opportunities and information on expanding my horizons and looking into possible careers, and the classes I have taken thus far are really interesting topics. I was surprised at the range of classes I could take for my GERs (which are not as bad as everybody makes them out to be). As for my friends in the Arts and Sciences, they too have commented on the amount of individual attention they get from advisers and teachers and how this attention helps them to succeed in the classroom. Essentially, if you put in the time and effort, you will definitely reap the benefits of a St. Joseph's education.

The social life is decent. As a freshman, especially since our class is the biggest entering class SJU has ever had, it's hard to find parties where you can get in. You kind of have to know somebody to get in many places, but there are spots where it isn't too hard. Even if parties don't go well, you always have Philly which is a 5 minute train ride! I love going into the city with friends and just exploring. There is always something to do in Philly.

Overall, I definitely recommend St. Joe's to anybody considering! If you're on the fence, come take a tour, but also TALK TO STUDENTS! They are really friendly and willing to talk about their experiences here at SJU. The Hawk will never die!!!
