Major: Chemistry (This Major's Salary over time)
Chemistry Department:This school is a joke and a pain. The Chemistry program requires more classes for the degree. Including double the math and physics of other schools. If you concentrate on just this degree it is possible. But it slows down your ability to graduate on time. The General Chemistry classes offered by URI for freshman are a joke. They are focused more on teaching you memorize specific answers to a problem then how to solve it.Academics:I've never seen so many General Education requirements…even in High School.Social:As for the social life, if you're not into drinking you will most likely not feel like you fit in. Even if you enjoy drinking regularly you better be prepared to drink 6 out of 7 days a week to fit in. If you match the Jersey Girl/Inner City New Yorker then you'd fit in perfectly. Anyone else is an outcast. Social life for upperclassmen is off campus. Everyone lives off campus and spread out which destroys the social life for anything happening on campus and the only "life" is parties down the line.Living:Freshman living could be a lot worse. But the university cares more about giving a good impression to parents to take their money. They recently redid the freshman dorms. The problem comes your sophomore year. I have not seen crappier dorms anywhere. By Junior year it's cut throat to live on campus. The upperclassmen apartments are really nice but varsity sports get first pick for housing. And their are more players then there are apartments…so there's no hope. I know freshman that have already moved off campus 2nd semester to get away.Summary:Just don't come and waste your money unless your from Jersey/NYC
