Major: Political Science (This Major's Salary over time)
The University of Georgia is an amazing place. Every student you meet was Prom King, MVP of their football team, Valedictorian and incredibly nice. Every student was highly involved in high school and is very well-rounded. The campus has a contagious positive energy that you cannot ignore as a student. Whether you're studying at the SLC (Student Learning Center) or at a football game, everyone will give you a smile.InvolvementThere are so many campus organizations. It is easy to just "be a number" at a large school, but UGA offers students so many ways to get involved. There are three major philanthropies on campus: UGA Miracle (Children's Miracle Network), UGA HEROs (a philanthropy started at UGA benefiting children affected by HIV/AIDS) and Relay for Life (American Cancer Society). Outside of that, there is a club for everyone.Greek LifeGreeks are a major part of campus, though they are only about 25% of the population. Being greek is great here, though not necessary. There are ways to get involved elsewhere, but much of the social network is defined by the Greek System.DormsThere are several dorms on campus, but most first-years live in the high-rise dorms (Russell, Brumby and Creswell).FoodThe campus food is amazing (beware, it's easy to gain the freshman 15). There are several dining halls and even one that is open 24-hours during the week (Snelling).Student populationMost of the student population comes from the Atlanta area, though as an out-of-state student I had no problem assimilating into student life. Most people are in good shape and are very active. The students here are competitive and have that "southern charm."SportsObviously, UGA has a long history with having great sports teams. Football is a huge part of campus life during the Fall and the Gym Dawgs and basketball team are also a big part during the Spring. Tailgating for a UGA football game is one of the most fun things you'll ever do.OverallUGA is a highly competitive campus full of very smart, active, friendly students.
