The negatives (kinda): The only negative thing I have to say about Goucher is that it is slacking socially. The school is small (smaller than my h.s- 1,000 something kids)so everyone knows each other which makes it hard to make new friends and there is not much going on during the weekends on campus. There is a shuttle that goes to other campuses though (and there are a lot of colleges around). Underage people shouldn't have a problem getting into clubs which is a perk. Promotion companies have parties which are somewhat popular with people (but for the bars if you don't have a fake ID don't even try). Going out into Baltimore (20 min. away) is also popular. Towson itself does not have much going on, and everything is closed by like 9 (cept for the movies). The college has stuff going on sometimes (like a trip every semester to NY for a day) and because of the transfer rate they are really making an attempt at having more fun things. There are always interesting speakers though. The sports teams are not really supported which kinda sucks. ps. ALOT more girls than guys…it's a good thing there are colleges around. The bright side: Towson is safe. Academics are great. The faculty is helpful and accommodating (if a class is full you can probably still get in by showing interest). The study abroad requirement is a major reason why people come here (don't know of any complaints there). The food is good, though it is college so you might get tired of it sometimes. The dorms are nice too unless you get stuck in a triple, which I don't think happens too much. Overall it's an okay place to be. Socially it's not that great, but if a person gets involved (there are a lot of intramurals like frisbee) they'll find their place eventually and enjoy their time here because really the social aspect is the only legit complaint, but get involved and you will be fine (it is a small school after all).
