Major: Computer Science (This Major's Salary over time)
There are not many good things to be said about this school. Before I talk about academics, let me get out of the way what most students REALLY care about. The food in the dining hall is bad, the university does not have any talented chefs and just prepare what a company ships to them. There is the rare occasion where something is heated properly and is edible. The food in the food court, or "Gallagher Center" is terrible as well. The pizza is gross, the chicken strips are cold, and the subs are the only thing that's really edible. That's all the selection they have too. A sub place, chicken "grill" place, a little dingy coffee spot, a smoothie place, and a little market with terrible cold sandwiches, and standard pop and candy. The social life is terrible if you did not come into the school with all your high school friends. There are literally no events on campus worth mentioning. The school brings in bands with what 40 seems to be the minimum age requirement. There are some really lame magic/hypnotist shows to which about 15 people show up to. It seems the only way to have fun on campus, is to LEAVE campus to get drunk. The general population is snotty and arrogant and stick to their cliques. Reminiscent of high school.Choosing this school for education, for me personally, was a terrible choice. As a computer science major, this school is definitely NOT the choice for you. The first batch of computer courses are about cobol, and the professor, who is part-time, sarcastically laughs about the course being unimportant and useless. While other schools are learning important Java programming, we are learning an outdated language. The last time cobol was ever important was during Y2K.Otherwise for general coursework, the teachers are overall pretty nice, and easy graders. This school is not very challenging at all.Overall, if you fantasize about going to college and discovering new things, new people, diverse cultures, and experiences, do not come here, your local community college probably has more of that.
