Major: Other (This Major's Salary over time)
I went here for the Music and Sound Recording major starting in fall of 2008. As a transfer student, I was relegated to off-campus housing. They failed to notify me of this until about 2 weeks before I was supposed to move in. They also failed to mention the names/give me contact information of the other 2 roommates I was sharing an apartment with. That said, I lucked out and got fairly good roommates. I also was not aware that even though you are allowed to have a car off-campus, you aren't allowed to park anywhere ON campus. Only for commuter parking. You have to rely on a horrible shuttle to get you to class. This college is completely useless if you want to do anything music related. There are 3 practice rooms for the whole campus, and not one well tuned or grand piano to be found. Lessons are only 30 minutes a week, which somehow equals 3 credits. The whole music department is relegated to the basement of Dodds Hall, which is a depressing building to say the least. Overall, the only saving grace is that the teachers for the music department are fantastic. Victor Markiw, Heather Reba and her husband, and Murry Krugman are all great and have much to offer. But unless you are an average C student who just cares about partying and playing in your shitty metal band, the music program isn't for you. The social life is complete garbage. I had the off-campus thing going against me from the begining, but from what I've heard from people living on campus, the social life isn't much better. It doesn't help that 90% of the student body are un-intellectual and arrogant, and stay in their cliques as if they were still in high school. There is nothing redeeming about the social life here AT ALL. And the food is awful… don't waste your money on the meal plan.I guess if you are a CJ or fire science major, this school may be appealing for you. But if you're considering anything else, I would advise you look elsewhere at all costs. Oh yeah, cost, there's another thing. You're looking at about 40,000 a year to go here. And for what? The only nice facility is the gym, which I'm sure will be trashed after about 2 years with the slobs that use it.
