Major: Communications (This Major's Salary over time)
I chose UNH for the music industry program. Despite the fact that I've taken guitar and voice, I am by no means a musician and was much more interested in the business aspect. Because of that, I made the change to major in Communication and minor in Music, so that I could just take a few introductory music courses, but mainly the specialized courses that UNH is known for (Intro to Music Industry; Production, Promotion and Distribution; Legal Issues).I can't stand when people say negative things about UNH because you'll find professors you can't get in contact with and snobby people everywhere you go. It's true, we have our fair share of snobs but who doesn't? If you're outgoing enough, you'll have plenty of friends. As far as the professors go, I've never had a problem reaching any of them and I have always gotten a reply. Sometimes you have to be persistent, but welcome to the real world. As far as socializing, I think most of the kids who have said negative things are the ones who wait around for a party to come to them. It's all about the people you know and the activities you create for yourself. If no one is going to be the party host, DO IT YOURSELF. As long as you aren't out of control, you'll be fine. If you want insane parties, go visit your friends at places like UMass. It's pretty common knowledge that UNH isn't huge party school, so if you don't like that, don't go here. Also, the programs are great but you have to do the work. I've had my fair share of classes where I got away with doing nothing, but that doesn't last forever and besides, it's COLLEGE, aren't you here to learn something? Don't come if you're just trying to appease your parents, and if you still do, I don't want to hear you complain about the work. I've found my experience here to be awesome, mainly because I've put myself out there to meet the faculty and students. Nothing will just come to you. If you're a pothead musician looking to just play music, this place isn't for you. I do my work, I participate, and I know I'm going to have a lot of opportunities.
