Major: Education (This Major's Salary over time)
There is no accountability to students. Most 100 level classes are taught by grad students who put no work or thought into the class. The administration ignores student needs. When the University had a budget deficit, they raised tuition by 10%. When that didn't help, they cut the Mens soccer and Womens volleyball teams. The meal plans are outrageously expensive. It's cheaper to eat off campus than on, not to mention the fact that the food is hardly average. My department made me buy a two thousand dollar Apple computer which I never had to use. A dean actually told me that the program was only adopted because a previous dean wanted to be "one of the first colleges in the country to have this kind of program". I have had a professor outright lie about my final grade, and had to go through a long battle to have it changed (from a C- to a B+). The advising system is also terrible. My 'advising center' was staffed by grad students and one full time employee, and depending who you talked to, you got different answers to the same question. The university also uses a web client for class registration, financial aid information, and communication that is impossible to navigate. Even the staff hates it. No one at this university seems to realize that they are there to assist students. Unfortunately, it is one of three colleges in the state that offer a degree in secondary education. If you're looking to get a degree in this major, go to Farmington or St. Joseph's.
