It is a nicely laid out school in a "well to do" neighborhood. However surrounding that neighborhood, is well, a hood. There is no fence surrounding the school or the parking lot. It concerns me as they continue to pour money in dorms and other things they neglect safety. I rarely see security guards in one of the parking lots at night.

The school itself is the best value you can get here for your money. Millsaps is twice as much, Mississippi College is 1000 or so more per course, then there is Hinds and Holmes which is ok, but they are commmunity colleges and friends of mine have had problems transfering. Its decently safe, the outside is beautiful, and for the most part the class sizes aren't too big. In your chosen major it may be around 6-20 people depending for mor eadvanced classes while regular classes such as core history or religion may run 30-45.

People can be extremely rude. I've had people look at me and I would smile and say hi - they would continue to stare a whole through me. Another experience was when my car stopped and I asked people to help me jump it but none had the time or jumper cables. They walked off as I said I had the cables. If you're different in any way run. I'm not an activst or gay and I am a Christian, but I hear so much crap against every religion and hear a bunch of anti gay stuff at least once a semester - and that is from teachers.

I would stay clear of adjuncts, if at all possible. Not because their rude, but their classes only last an hour out of three. Yes, it may sound good, but their tests have the difficulty if there were three—and yes you will wish they stayed. Plus, you have to chase them down just to ask a question.

The regular teachers for the most part I feel care about the students. I've been to one teacher who is especially wonderful that will talk with you for even a few hours trying to help you in every way he can. The regular teachers are approachable, friendly, and will take time with you. (Once again, this is for the most part) We do have a few teachers who will scream at you! coughEnglish profcough

Soccer is very popular here. I think of them as the soccer darlings as they can do no wrong in the eyes of anyone. Baseball is also very popular, but I've only met a few of them. Football, Basketball well—the football players are non-sterotypical they are really down to earth and nice mostly.

There are a lack of elevators. If you are handicap I would not consider this school as they have classes on the third floor with no elevator.. Excuse me.. That is no elevator but the FACULTY elevator that no one else is allowed to use. Other buildings have none what so ever. They also lack handicap parking places and instead have lots of reserved spaces for the president - vice president - every type of prez and security possible lol.
