Date: Apr 23 2009 Major: Design Arts - Industrial Design/Graphic Design/etc (This Major's Salary over time) At UNH, I was a graphic design major - there's two ways to take this program: the easy road, in which you'll absolutely get an A, or to actually push yourself. Choosing the former road will get you a degree, sure, but a job in hand after graduation is doubtful. This is the path 99% of design majors choose, as they're not pushed to create better work in a timely fashion and
think outside the box.
If you decide to choose the latter of the two options, success will surely follow. To succeed in life after UNH, you have to take initiative and work hard while in school, rather than coasting along as the professors will allow you to. One has to be incredibly self-motivated to take this path.Getting involved in clubs and organizations on campus is the only way to make your social life worthwhile - otherwise, you absolutely will find yourself holed up in your room all day. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience at UNH, only because I made it enjoyable. Many will tell you of the plethora of issues at UNH - my main complaint was that parking is nonexistent, and getting worse with the new buildings being built. My first year, the campus was small and comfortable (2004), but as the years have passed, I've seen many changes to UNH. The administration has been enrolling many more students than the campus can hold - for example, the dorms are packed with all freshman rooms being tripled. In my last few years (graduated 2008), crowded classes where you're only a number with awful professors who don't answer questions became the norm in core required classes.Additionally, maintenance requests typically would take forever. In retrospect, as a graphic designer, I don't know if I would have chosen to go to UNH. I am currently succeeding, but could have gotten the same education at any university.
