Major: Art & Design Department (This Major's Salary over time)
Dickinson is a place where the academics are good, but most kids don't take advantage of them the way they should, so faculty becomes annoyed at the students and doesn't open up to them. This is because most of the students at Dickinson are there because they have money (lots of it), a history of family members having attended Dickinson, or because they look good for the college (minorities). Rarely is a student admitted on the sole basis of their intelligence/aptitude. Most of the students I have met at this school are heavy drinkers, should be attending a state school, and are immature and irresponsible people in general (but still get away with everything because a lot of the administration are Dickinson alums). Greek life is very present on this campus, so if you love to drink and go to bars and hit on girls that all look/act the same (North Face jackets, Ugg boots and black leggings, anyone?) then this is the place for you. If you're looking to make lifelong friends who have an ounce of intellectualism in them and are into activities other than frat/sorority stuff, then go somewhere else. The classes here are good, but I think many of the professors that have been there for a while are wise to how immature students are and have distanced themselves from the students.
