I transferred here from the University of Missouri in Columbia to find a better more approachable atmosphere, with better opportunities. Little did I know that I was wrong. First of all, the tuition is going to be very high, given the fact that it is a private university. Yes I understand that completely, however I do not think it is worth it based on many things. For one, they do not offer any money. Yes I got $6000 for being a transfer student, however what good is that going to good given the fact that the school is $40,000??? The school does not also accomodate the students with meal plans and books. The food there is really bad, although I am not sure how many actual dining halls there are. The things in the bookstore are overpriced. They have little restaurants such as subway, au bon pain and other many food places on campus, however it is very overpriced.

Resident Hall is the most unorganized organization I have ever seen and experienced in my entire life. I had to live off campus this year because I was too late to sign up for housing. This year I made sure that I was on time. However these dummies assigned me to a freshman dorm with three other people in a ROOM (keep in mind I will be a junior this next semester). Upon learning this I was appalled! I applied two months before the deadline and you mean to tell me you give me this crap?? I don't think so. I quickly denied this submission. Another thing, the on campus apartments are HIGHLY overpriced! Especially Grand Forest. The Marchetti Apartments should not even be apartments given the fact that they close over break. You mean to tell me I'm paying all this money for rent and you can't even let me stay over a freaking break? The faculty also takes things waaaay to seriously. I have not been happy with them.

Okay so I knew this was a private instituion and expected to see snobs but SLU is overpopulated with the most stuck up, arrogant types of people I've ever met. I'm sad to say that I am only cool with a few people from here. It's hard enough being African American being surrounded by rich white snobs but even the minority students are SNOBBY and ARROGANT! I have never felt so unwelcomed in my life! The black student ALLIANCE is a contradiction to all man kind! There is no alliance, there is petty drama and pre-judgements that are made throughout the year. It's in this one little stupid room where all the black students supposedly migrate to. The minute I walked in I got stares and snickers not feeling welcome at all. I decided to stick it out for second semester but things just got worse.

The school has way to much pride in themselves for being a prestigious top school but yet they do NOT put the effort in keeping students there! They claim to be a safe campus even though there are robberies probably two or three times every 2 weeks. I love the city of Saint Louis..Hate the School.

Who has school spirit? SLU doesn't! After being on campus for a year I realized how much I missed Mizzou (my old school) and realized that I regreted my decision. Yes MU is a big school, yes it may be known as a party school but I could accomplish alot of the same things there like I can at SLU for a cheaper price and have a GOOD college experience. I actually had FRIENDS there and could have been involved in so much more. This is why I'm making the concious decision to transfer BACK to mizzou and stay there to complete my degree. That is where I belong.

In conclusion, if you want to go to a school with lack of school spirit, overpriced things, be surrounded by rich snobs and arrogant pricks, no social life, close-mindedness, strict unnecessary regulations then SLU is the perfect school for you! Otherwise choose a public state school or go to a private university that is worth your time (ie Yale, Princton, etc)
