I transferred to Lehigh from another college and must admit that I was quite disappointed in the discrepancy between what I read and saw in brochures and what the university was actually like. Firat, I would agree with most of the negative comments in saying if you are a minority of any kind, you should really think twice about coming to Lehigh. I feel as though my race and transfer status were two strikes against me while attending Lehigh for the few months I was there. During my time at Lehigh, there was a city counciol meeting addressing racist acts specifically during the time of Obama's election as president. That should speak volumes in itself. Also, I generally felt unwelcomed and had a very difficult time find decent people to hang out with. I met only associates at Lehigh, not one friend who I could actually stand to be around everyday. There city of Bethlehem is one of the shadiest college towns you will ever see. While taking a cab back to school one time, the driver told me he had been stabbed on more than one occassion in the area.. wtf. I think my only savior at Lehigh was my fiance who was in school in NY.. I spent many weekends with him to keep me from losing my mind at Lehigh. The bus to NY is right down the street and is relatively cheap (40 roundtrip) so I would say that's a plus. Also, the campus is BEAUTIFUL. That and my workstudy job are the only two things I miss about Lehigh. The people I worked with were great and I was paid 9.50 which is the most I've ever made in a workstudy position. Oh another plus is that I got a workout everyday without even trying. I thought people were exaggerating about the campus being on a mountain. THEY'RE NOT so keep that in mind. IF you're like me and need to be pushed to work out, that would be a plus for you. The academics were great, I have no complaints there. I would say you should probably stick to the majors the school is know for such as business, engineering, etc. I would, however, strongly recomment Dillon for anyone.. she's amazing! Hope this helped..
