Major: Chemical Engineering (This Major's Salary over time)
USC is a research university. If you're looking to work toward a Masters or a PhD with a collection of brilliant minds at your disposal, this is the place. However, if you're only planning to do undergraduate work here, you're probably better off somewhere else like Cal Poly Pomona.

The professors are very intelligent people, but they are terrible teachers (the only exception that comes to mind is Dean Yortsos, who is too busy running the entire school to teach now). With the exception of those who read directly from the text, most do not present a structured lecture.

The undergrad chemical engineering lab is in serious need of updating (as are many of the undergraduate chemistry labs). The only courses that I found relevant to my career were the senior design courses (that might be different today, a PhD now teaches the courses).

USC is a very nice campus. Nothing beats being on campus the day of a big football game. If that is your type of atmosphere, then there's no better place to go. The engineering school is very impressive. I would recommend the school as a whole. I just wouldn't recommend this major.
