The food gives you the runs, the town is bad, the students are very dumb or very stuck up, the only thing people care about is getting drunk, ton of hot girls but they only want to get drunk and party, workload varies a lot between majors, not diverse(sticking a bunch or black and white people together isn't diversity), buses are infrequent, not taken seriously in the workforce, finding others who want a higher education instead or getting drunk and partying is almost non-existant, the town goes from a fun college town to a dangerous slum at night but no matter how bad it may seem, this school makes you want to come back for more in a good way.

If you want to get down to the basics, the school is resourceful and has some of the best programs out there but the students that go here is what drags this school down. Most of the students that go here want to drink, have sex, skip class and do drugs. They aren't that bright either which is a shame considering that this school really goes out of its way to make sure you do well. The funny part is that quite a few of them are really cool people to just hang with and have fun but they will get you into nothing but trouble. Then there the other students. These students are VERY bright, well mannored, and very studious but there is only one problem, they typically are very stuck up and do not associate with anyone outside of their small circle of friends. Trying to associate with them is almost non-existant and you have a better shot at getting into Harvard so it is very hard to group with these people. You are basically stuck in limbo which basically descibes the social life. One thing I highly suggest if you want to have a great social life minus the drugs, partying and sex,join Campus Christian Fellowship and get involved in a 2:42 group. I don't care if you don't believe in God because I don't care, and I didn't even ask if you believed. Get involved with a church group and have fun without the negatives. The people won't drag you down and they are down to Earth and don't mind having fun.

One thing I can say is that the campus is resourceful and they make sure you are successful as I stated previously. The professors do care if you make an honest effort in their class and the opportunities for success are numerous. If there is anything redeeming about this school, it is the quality of service you get when succeeding in your major. If you have a hard time finding aid for your major, then you aren't looking or you probably don't even care.

There are a lot of bad in this town but if you prioritize yourself and prove you have more interest than getting drunk and having sex, like studying and getting involved with extra-ciriculars, then you have a more positive experience. Paying 13,000 a year just to party is expensive.

If you want a place where you can learn new information, have a bit of fun, take it easy, and enjoy life, this is a place for you. You may hate it at first but you will always find yourself back here at East Carolina University. What you make of your college experience is what you get. No one is going to hand you a good after graduate life, you have to WORK for it. I love ECU and I am make the most out of my academics and it is paying off for me.

P.S. To all of those people who think that black people act like the world owes them something, PLEASE! Get over yourself and go do something better with your life like finish that paper you was suppose to start on a week ago. I'm black and I am very successful here and very polite to others. White people act the same to me(nice, polite and respectful). Treat people the way you want to be treated and maybe they wouldn't be a complete racist douchebag to you.
