| Well
let me just start by giving out a little backround
info about my collegiate experience. I started down at
Champaign, hated it for the overbearing fraternity cult that pervaded
the entire campus. So, being so dissulluioned, I put
my hopes on Loyola, where I was put into a
transfer dorm, and virtually all the students came in with
some type of baggage, mostly drunks and drug users.
To make a long story short, I was kicked out
of Loyola for being present in a dorm room while
cocaine was being used, abeit I had no intentions of
using the drug. At any rate, I went to
Depaul and chose not to live in a dorm, becuase
only freshman can live in dorms, and I also thought
I was getting to old for that sort of thing.
This had grave consequences. At first I didnt
care, I was just happy to be in school, and
then, after a couple of quarters, I started to really
feel alienated. I only truly met two friends, both
at the gym, and I to this day maintain that
it is very difficult to make friends on the campus
if your a transfer student. I think its laughable
how depaul advertises itself as being the most diverse student
body in the country. Im actually laughing out loud.
Most everyone is white, and the younger people are
the more close-minded. I actually had a conversation about
this with one of my class mates, that they should
separate schools bewtween fresh/soph jun/sen becuase there is such an
enormous difference in the maturity level from those two groups.
At any rate, I can speak for living on
three campuses, if your not white, consider going somewhere else.
After I went to Depaul I went through a
damn near psychotic identity crisis becuase Im of mixed race.
(German/Middle-eastern) Although my looks are racially ambiguous, I
dont look middle eatern or white, I have olive skin
and even that was enough to feel socially estranged.
This is just a warning. Never have I seen
such a white, privegled elite in the context of a
college campus in my life. This is just speaking
from an outsiders persective, so those of you that are
going to chastise me for saying this can go to
hell, becuase Ive lived on three campuses and never have
I seen anything like this. Anyways, 100 and 200
level courses are filled with immature freshman and sophmores, some
of which I unfortuanelty have to take, because they didnt
transfer over. 300 level courses are amazing. Small
class size, intellectual environment, group discussions with mature adults, etc.
This is about the one part of school that
I really enjoy, the 300 level history courses. Sorry
but other than that, the freshman can lick my ass,
and this “white is right” mentality can go saunter on
down back to Alabama.
