Dominican University is a beautiful school. It has a gorgeous campus and a quaint neighborhood surrounding the school. It's close to oak park, but not close enough for my liking. They offer a shuttle bus that takes you to the green line that can take you downtown, which is nice, but I feel trapped here a lot of the time. If you're not a commuter and you're living on campus you still need a car or your option are limited. The teachers are fantastic. Helpful and kind. They want to be there for you and help you understand. Although I was disappointed to find out that many of the professors here teach at community colleges around here, which makes you ask yourself 'why am I paying through the nose to get the same education I could get for 1,000 a semester?' If you enjoy the small high school setting, you'll love the classes here. I was from a large high school and I definitely am not used to the smallness. Social life on the weekends is almost non-existent. Majority of the residents go home while the rest of us left drink, smoke weed and cigs or do drugs to keep us from being bored. If you are the type of person who enjoys sober activities I'd say come live at Dominican. There is no football team, which is sad because soccer and volleyball can only satisfy your athletic event spirit so much. The food is awful, eating healthy is not an option. The fitness center is limited, which is a bummer considering the price you pay to come here. Overall, Dominican University is a great school if you enjoy small populations and sober activities.
