I have three main complaints about CTC:

Parking

Adminstrative Staff

Distribution of Financial Aid

1. The parking. This is NOT my first college, I transferred here. NEVER have I seen a worse parking situation. I know parking is tight at most schools, but this school takes it to a new level. I had an easier time parking at my school in HAWAII—where space is always at a premium. In fact, I've found it easier to find parking at major league baseball games than to find parking at CTC—and that is NOT an exaggeration. I've spent 1 hour and 40 minutes searching for parking at this school. Once I had to drive home and wake my hubby, who was working the nightshift, and ask him to drop me off so that I didn't miss class. (Then he had to stay awake so he could come back and get me, which is ridiculous.)

It doesn't help that all of the parking near the school is reserved for staff and employees of the school. The staff has set hours, I am in and out of the school all day, as are many other students. We'd like some consideration too! Employees are paid to be there… I PAY to be there. I deserve to be able to park within walking distance of class. It shouldn't take me 25 minutes to walk from my car to my class.

Today, one of the last student parking lots near the school was changed to "reserved parking". I'm furious. If there was another school available locally, you better bet I would go there.

2. While the teaching staff and students are friendly, the administration of this school is AWFUL. They are condescending, rude, thoughtless, and quick to blame a student for THEIR mistakes. The staff failed to process my application for enrollment, then took delight in informing me that all of the problems that arose from this fact were MY fault, (because I should have submitted my application earlier). When I nicely informed then that I HAD submitted my application early, and that my problems arose from staff mistakes, they became hostile. There were DOZENS of students that experienced this same problem, and we, (the students), were punished for the mistakes of the faculty.

I had to go to the administration office every day for two weeks, and sit for hours, just to get ENROLLED. I watched 4 students get up and leave, giving up on enrolling, because of the delays. By the time I actually managed to GET enrolled, there were few classes left, so my schedule is crazy. This contributed to my coming and going from the school all day… thus my parking issues are expanded.

3. CTC splits your financial aid into FOUR disbursements. They split each semester into 2 disbursements! There is no reason for this, other than for their own benefit. Apparently, since they offer online courses that last 8 weeks, they were finding that students weren't enrolling in the second 8 week term of each semester. Assuming that it was because we ADULTS couldn't manage our money, they decoded to sit on half of each semesters disbursement so that they could guarantee that the students could afford the second round of online courses for each semester. It doesn't matter whether or not you actually plan to TAKE online courses or not either. They put your money into THEIR bank account and collect interest on that money, at your expense. For the record, I am in my 30's and I do not need someone else to make a profit off my money under the guise of helping me to manage my money.
