FIU was not my first choice school, and frankly I ended up there as a result of sheer stupidity when choosing between Universities. Academically, the coursework for Fresh/Soph is about the same as any other State school in Florida. Professors are either amazing or just about pitiful, a great many have heavy foreign accents. FIU is still a commuter school serving the Miami/Broward area, so housing students should not expect to see many people on campus on weekends. My advice for Housing students would be to appreciate the city of Miami, and go and enjoy yourself on weekends. FIU's dull campus life makes up for the amazing city life you get in Miami. The University of Florida on the other hand does not have much to do in terms of city life.
