People here are extremely disorganized neither the professors nor the students tend to be of any help.  If you have a question about your major the teachers are no where to be found and even when you try to get a tutor you have to wait an extended amount of time (like a couple of weeks) until your question is answered.  The students fall into 4 categories party people, stuck up, ghetto, and international students.  Most students don't care about their work here and I think this school accepts just about everyone.

Another point is the surrounding area.  There is almost no civilization here!  You would have to walk about an hour to get to a McDonald's and if you want to go to the mall you have to pay about 5 bucks one way, and you would have to sit on a two hour bus ride.  When you finally get to this mall all around you is white trash from the locals that look all inbred.  The people are EXTREMELY UNEDUCATED!

In conclusion this school sucks horribly and only come here if you want to drink and party because that's all you can do.  Good Luck

responseThis is a valid and emotional review by a downstate student experiencing culture shock in Upstate NY, and I sympathize. However, some facts: 1. Fewer than half of applicants were accepted for fall 2009, and Oswego is rated selective and competitive. 2. McDonald's is 1 mile from campus, according to Mapquest, and Pizza Hut, Subway and Dunkin Donuts are practically across the street. 3. The fanciest mall in Syracuse is a 45-minute drive. More than 50% of students have a car; if you don't, make friends with one who does.
