I went to a university in Oklahoma, that will remain nameless. I just wanted to comment that at any major university you are going to get the problems mentioned in this feed. The best thing you can do in your college years is to learn to cope. You will eventually be in the job market and the people there are the same % of the population. If you are going to run off to another school to avoid rednecks, then leave the new school to avoid snobby socialite types -you will just spend your life running. Learn to accept others and overlook what you cannot accept. Change what is grossly unfair and do your best to be a person that other good people seek out. If you are negetive you will not attract these wonderful people you seek. They will not see any reason to befriend you. I now have children who are looking for a college to attend and I hope that they learn about diversity and how to get along with people while at college. Not all diversity is good. Sometimes diversity includes fringe groups you do not want to associate with. But that is life. In the work place you are going to meet people you do not care for. I am part asian and I run a gaming group that plays D&D. Some people think my diversity is GREAT, and other people think I am a total wierdo. I am also catholic, from out west, own an organic farm, and live in Georgia. After all my travel (I have lived from Washington State to Washington DC) I would have to say you meet all types from coast to coast. Rude people live everywhere. Partying frat boys and girls who spend more time on their nails then homework are a staple at any college. Closed minded people are EVERYWHERE. I have never lost my Okie twang and when I lived up north people made assumptions that I must be less than intelligent. All you can really do in life is try not to be a hateful person and to look for the good in everyone. Maybe somewhere along the journey you will become the type of person you seek in others.
