I had to write to confirm your totally correct observation that people always look at the ground and never say hello or anything. I couldn't count the number of times I'd say a greeting and then the other person wouldn't say a damn thing. WTF! It's so weird. It's so funny you noticed that I got a good laugh. Thank god i'm not alone. |
Major: Biology (This Major's Salary over time)
I want to give a stern warning to anyone planning to attend Grove City College. The schoolwork does not stress understanding but rather busywork and workign the system here. The school is somewhat Christian. There are severe repercussions for drinking and sex but NOT for cheating and lying. I do not engage in any of these things, but I am tired of the "morals" here. Teh students are treated as children rather than adults. I am saddened to say that I do not believe that most students experience a lot of spiritual growth here (soemthing many of the Christian kids considering the school are looking for). Is God at obviously at work on this campus? - I do not think so.Students that are nto particularily evangelical / fundamental in their Christian belief and are considering the school for the "rigorous academics" - don't go here. I see so many non-evangelical kids here that are doing nothing but complain about the rules and how they wish they were at a "real college". Since, the college is not a good choice for either group, I can recommend against attending for almost anyone. The students are either very shy and reserved - they keep their eyes to the ground and do not greet each other, or they proclaim at every opportunity how much they dislike GCC. Strange indeed. On a more positive note: The food is pretty good and IM sports are fun. Going on Spring break humanitarian aid / missions trips can also be very rewarding and you will meet some good folks there. Most varsity sports are also pretty decent for a DIII school. Teh students don't really care about football games though. Here is a tip for homosexual students though: If you wish to "stay in the closet during college, GCC is a good place to attend because you not being interested in girls will not raise suspicions as many students either do not wish to date because of their religious beliefs or are to socially inept to do so.For biology students: This is an awkward subject to study here. Evolution is not taught but neither is it denied. I found that when I talked to a professor in his office he did believe in evolution but didn't want to teach it.In conclusion, I have to say that I very much regret coming to GCC, and I see this as an effort to give prospective students a heads-up.
