Date: Oct 24 2009 Major: Biology (This Major's Salary over time) A lot of people go to the U as bio majors intending to be pre-med. The number who are actually pre-med obviously drops by sophomore and junior year but the cool thing is that there's an amazing science program with a lot of opportunities to learn skills that other undergrads just don't get. My undergrad lab experience in biology was what landed me my first job out of college - at a major pharmaceutical company. On a more personal level, there's something special about Scranton, people really do care about you there. My life completely fell apart in college (in more ways than one) and I would've washed out somewhere else. Having faculty that knew me, what I was going through and what I was capable of was a huge benefit to me. Downsides to the school is that it's not diverse at all (mostly rich Catholic kids from NJ/Philly and LI) so it's hard if you don't fall in that demographic to find your place sometimes socially.
