SMU is a fabulous institution. It is surrounded by one of the largest cities in the US and, within that city, one of the most affluent neighborhoods.

In 95% of my classes, the teachers are extremely understanding and put YOU first versus just grades. However, with that said, I have had a teacher or two who wouldn't round up an 89.4 (B+ to A) or an 83.6 (B- to B) which really sucks with the school's plus and minus grading system.

There are LOTS and LOTS of opportunities to get involved on campus. Although there seems to be a heavy greek presence, in reality there isn't. They just stand out more than one would like. I'd say over half of my own friends are not a part of greek life.

The campus is also very well maintained. It looks like a you are in a brochure 365 days of the year. They have Career Services for students who need help finding a job or editing a resume, counseling if that is necessary (emotional, career, all kinds), SMU Rides will pick you up anywhere within the area and Giddy Up (golf cart ride service) runs from 7pm to 3am on campus for those who dont feel safe walking alone at night.

I have, overall, enjoyed my 3 years at SMU. I would highly recommend for people to attend this university.
