Major: Computer Science (This Major's Salary over time)
DePaul was like high school with smoke breaks. It's largely a commuter school, so unless you're part of the exclusive dorm community and/or play on the Demons, you won't enjoy DePaul. There is truly no community, with everyone just hanging by themselves or with the clique they knew from before college. Overall, the university buildings are blah and devoid of character. The exceptions to that would be some of the older ones, but about half of them have been torn down during the past ten years; sterile-looking red brick ones went up in their place. Inside, they look like a worst combination of a high school and an office building. There is no true campus, either, with the university simply being interspersed in a city neighborhood.Cafeteria gotta be the worst one in the country. Food is low quality and overpriced; for a point of reference, a run-of-the-mill sandwich, chips, and a drink will set you back $7 or $8. The meal plan operates like a debit-card: you get money on your account at the beginning of the quarter, and spend it each time you eat. Given the prices in the cafeteria, you almost never have enough. So, you end up malnourished from eating crap you can afford, or have to spend extra money out of pocket. If you're going to do any extracurriculars, don't join DePaul Activities Board. It's largely a clique for the dorm students. They get 50% of the activity funding, but do little with it: just 3 good events a year. Student Government Association is supposedly better, but I wasn't in it, so I wouldn't know. Ethnic organizations that get chump change for funding do many more events that actually promote the little cohesion there is among students. So, that's everything I got to say about DePaul. As Jim Carrey would say, do NOT go in there.
