If you decide to attend Bastyr, you should be prepared for the unexpected. If you are from a liberal background, it is important for you to know that many if not most of the students are from conservative Christian backgrounds. There are many mormon and Seventh Day Adventist students. If you are LBGT, please know that traditional family values will surround you here. Bastyr is a Queendom of young, heterosexual women who are pregnant or planning to get pregnant while attending school. The people will freak you out but you will find yourself making friends with and loving people you never thought you possibly could. I made some wonderful friends here but I found the student body as a whole to be dominated by emotionally immature people. Everyone is always preaching to the choir. When people don't fit in here, they become very isolated and depressed. Do not go here if you don't have a strong community outside of the school. It is too small and too suffocating to be called a truly exceptional educational experience. If you aren't wealthy, don't enroll in the Naturopath program, go into Nutrition so you can get work without having to pay for up massage courses and/or acupuncture, and/or midwifery, etc. If you are stubbornly insistent on becoming a Naturopath and you are dirt poor, best of luck to you! You will have all the resources here via faculty and students and out in Seattle to learn how to make your dream come true. Consider alternate routes such as research and teaching.
