Depending on the department, IPFW is either a great school or just fair. There are a lot of freshman students that perceive IPFW as a community college; which it isn't. This creates some naive students in inept departments that drain the moral of the entire school body. However, if you get into a good department, you will find the faculty helpful and approachable. This school has the same standards as Purdue and Indiana University. In fact, the CS department scored better than their Purdue counterpart in standards testing. The Social Life is not great for a university this size. However, they have improved their club offerings over the last 5 years. Also, Fort Wayne has a community of over 200,000 so there are other off-campus options. I would like to see more interaction with the community, local employers, and higher entrance standards developed. Overall, it was a conveniently located university with standards and faculty to get a real education… providing you are in the right department.
