I read the following comment about the school:

"This school attracts bright, attractive people from all over the world. If you expect a bunch of complete socially inept nerds with pocket protectors sitting around discussing all of the reasons they aren't getting laid, and all that ridiculous school spirit hubbub, you are in the wrong place. If you want to get a full, well-rounded education, party and meet hot, intelligent women in bikinis and party with them , you are in the right place. The campus location alone blows any other Texas school out of the water. Add in the beauties of Texas, tubing down the San Marcos and Blanco Rivers, a cool buzz, and you are just fine."

I do agree with the truth of this comment, but want to add a more serious, academic one; the science education offered here is both a good value for the tuition cost and the department overall is on the rise. I believe San Marcos will become more popular in the future as an alternative to UT, although it is still relatively unknown outside Texas.
