I first came to Crown College to finish by B.S. degree, using their adult degree completion program. I was very pleased with that program, and eventually opted to return for my M.A. degree. Here's where things got bad fast. When I started, I was told that I would have the option of taking online courses. I figured I would enjoy that, so I took a couple of them, and found out that they did not work out for me at all. The text content was simply a regurgitation of the text. There were no audio components. The focus of the homework was making a specific number of posts to a discussion board each week, and the inclusion of (in at least one course) additional outside sources as works cited for each post. To make the grade, my focus became making posts and finding useful snippets from other texts—no real learning on the topic. After that experience, I tried to revert to on-campus classes, but then found out THEY WERE FORCING all grad students to complete their degrees online. Now I have thousands of dollars invested and am only a few courses short of completion, but am being told that I MUST complete my courses in their online environment which, in my opinion, sucks. I feel that THIS WAS A BAIT-AND-SWITCH SCHEME. I have too much time and money invested for me to go elsewhere. Crown College lied to me and misrepresented its programs. If they wanted to move to online-only, that's their perogative, but they should have allowed those already enrolled to finish in the traditional environment. I used to recommend them highly. Now I recommend avoiding them entirely.
