Major: Geography and Geosciences (This Major's Salary over time)
The campus is a 10 minute bikeride to the beach, which is great when it's hot and you're done with your classes by the afternoon. It is a smaller school - just hit 26,000 people, so you won't get that super ultra party environment here, though there are things like foam parties and bonfires. The area around it is Boca Raton which is, for those out of staters, a retirement community. Commuting more than 20 minutes is a drag, though i've met quite a few people that do it. finding a place outside of a retirement community is challenging (just moved into my own apartment) but doable. there are all kinds of promos for new bars and clubs that open up - none of which i've been to because i don't care for the club atmosphere. i do know that if you want to pick up chicks, they're there. ft. lauderdale is usually where it's at and that's a 20 minute drive, which isn't so bad. the people that are here want to give FAU a party reputation probably as bad as you do, so we'll probably be there in a few years. there are some people, like my boyfriend, who's an engineer, that finds quiet time at the university as well as where we live, and there's people that are liberal arts majors that don't have to work at all. pick challenging professors when you can, don't sell yourself short. FAU is now where UCF was 10 years ago. The campus is building a brand new engineering building, on campus housing and a stadium on campus that will be completed in a few years. Give the Owls some time and they will be making headlines. The only thing I wish is that there was more to do around the campus that gave me a sense of community. I'm from Tampa and all around Tampa are marquees and discounts for USF bulls and "THIS IS BULL COUNTRY," something I wish was here, but then again, FAU is still, comparably, a small school.
