Major: Mechanical Engineering (This Major's Salary over time)
I am a Mechanical Engineering student- MMAE department. I have been here for 4 years and could have gone to the University of Illinois Urbana Champagne. The reason I chose this school was to contribute to bringing IIT back to it's rightful position- it was once the best university in the country. First I would like to deny any claims about IIT being a poor investment. People who wrote these poor reviews surely do not understand the history of IIT. It was a widely used fascility during the cold war effort and was heavily funded especially the engineering department. To go back further it was place that dealt with the stock cars and refridgeration. Obviously both do not exist today and IIT went into a major recession, which resulted in lack of funding and declining in rank. IIT is attempting to find that source of funding through green technology or sustainability project courses. This university is slowly improving, but it will soon rise in ranks in the next 5-10 years. Good or Bad:Neither, I believe the school does not fund the right departments. It funds its best departments. However, one of the better departments, MMAE, has completely revamped their program to promote more creativity in their curriculumn. So for any incoming freshmen or applcants, the Mechanical, Materials, and Aerospace Engineering curriculumn will consist of building and sturring those creative juices.
