I attended Hood College my first semester of my freshman year. I did not return after winter break. Why? Because it was not the college experience I was looking for. Sure Hood looks nice from the outside but take a step inside and there is nothing nice about it. Dorm rooms are run down, there are these stupid common rooms in the dorms that made me want to vomit walking through them. The gym is about the size of my garage, no I take that back, my garage is bigger. There is only one place to eat and if you miss dinner that ends at 7:30, you're screwed. They make all freshman get the unlimited meal plan but the thing is the dining hall is only open 3 times a day and the next meal plan under the unlimited is, 3 times a day. It is mainly a commuter school, I lived three hours away and almost everybody I met were amazed how far away I was. The weekends are dead, so if you like to party stay away! No such thing at Hood. My classes were generally easy. I felt like I was still in high school, just not being able to go home after classes. There is absolutely nothing to do on campus. Being an athletic person I enjoy getting outside to be generally active, but athletics at hood are embarrassing. They dont have a basketball gym so the basketball team is forced to play at a high school gym. There isn't even a baseball team. There are no intramural sports whatsoever so if you're into sports this isn't a place to go. If you like high school drama this is the place for you. If you like seeing the same people everyday by name, this is the place for you. They say Hood is a great place to get an education and I'm sure it is, if you want to be bored out of your mind 24 hours a day 7 days a week be my guest. And be sure to be laughed at when you tell people you go to Hood College, you'll get the same joke every time,"Is it in the HOOD?!?!" I'm sorry to be so negative, but I disliked it so much I'm now taking courses at a community college so I can transfer to a better, more enjoyable school next year. The only good thing I have to say about Hood College is that the professors I had were great. They were willing to help you with anything and you could meet with them whenever you needed. But it wasn't for me.
