Major: Political Science (This Major's Salary over time)
I chose Loyola University as my backup school.

I originally wanted to go to a larger state school not in Illinois. Loyola will definitely provide you with a great education within the classroom.

Teachers

are very brilliant and willing to help you on a variety of levels—definitely use Ratemyprofessor.com, otherwise you will end up with a professor you're not happy with.

Depending on your major your work-load will vary. As a political science/communications student I have a lot of readings. You can spot a pre-med/nursing student at Loyola because they usually looked stressed and overtired.

Students

at Loyola are mainly close-minded, boring, and definitely socially awkward. Ofcourse, you'll meet some good people but as a common theme everyones weird/awkward. Past conversations I've had with friends, I've heard people say that they think Loyola is almost a "fake" university… meaning that everyone acts like they are something they're not… for example: if someone was a total nerd/outcast in High School and come here and try to act like they are some sort of celebrity. It's just straight up weird…

I tend to feel like I'm at school with a bunch of kids that sat at the outcast lunch table in High School.

Party scene.

If you don't have a fake ID plan, good luck. This is a city school so the city attracts a lot of the night life, but you will have to be 21. House parties? "College" party scene? No way. Have fun drinking in the dorms and probably get written up for a noise complaint or some other retarded rule.

If you're looking for a typical college experience with a variety of people, open-mindedness, school spirit/pride, good vibes, and people with laid back/outgoing/easygoing personalities, don't come here.

It's not worth the $40,000 per year, put your parents at ease. A shout out to fellow Loyolans: Just because you pay $40g's and go to a private school doesn't make you better than anyone else… You aren't at an Ivy League or anything close to it… you can get an 19 on your ACT and get accepted.

If you couldn't tell, I'm transferring. I'll miss the friends I've made, but we'll keep in touch.

responseYou're the kind of person that needs to transfer out. Talking about students here as "the outcast lunch table in High School."? Really? I hope you do some growing up wherever you go, but I doubt it. Have fun drinking with the other failures at life, or excuse me, I meant have fun with you "typical college experience."
commentWell, as much as I don't like Loyola…Whoever wrote this review is an idiot. I had a friend with a 3.0 GPA and a 24 on the ACT who didn't get accepted. Now, the average ACT is getting into the 26 range and the average GPA of incoming freshman is around a 3.7. It's not severely easy to get into this school like you are suggesting. Although, I will concede that it is very expensive, and I would go somewhere else if I could do it all over again.
