Major: Business - Management and Administration (This Major's Salary over time)
My opinion basically revolves around the business department. I was an accounting major and as far as those courses were concerned they were top notch…i felt that i would be prepared to continue with my accounting career based upon what was taught in those few classes but as far as the rest of the courses in the department were concerned…all but a few ( administrative policy with yunich and Financial Management with Talbot) were a joke. The standards have been set so low at the this point that my 4.0 really means nothing since my public highschool classes were more challenging than these. The professors were more like gradschool teachers…worrying about motivagting students to do their homework and participate in class..and having to heavily grade in accordance to these factors in fear that they would otherwise not do hw and not learn the material…ummmm hello this is college…its not the teacher's responsibility that we do our work…if you fail you fail…and either learn from this and work harder to get your education or take the failed coursework as a harsh reality that maybe your not ready to be in college. By bending over backwards in rediculous ways to make sure these students pass these classes the standards are so low that these teachers are doing no one a favor. These students who are being babied here are going to get a big slap in the face when they get into the real world, and the students who are actually looking for an decent education will not be getting it…and their 4.0 is really going to mean nothing down the road…especially if this cycle continues and the reputation of the department declines.
