I came to the University from out of state, and was unimpressed with the school. It took me two months of talking to classmates to make a friend because everyone already had a clique to fit into—that I couldn't be part of. I tried to live at the dorms to help (Unitas), but found that it didn't help at all. No one was around on the weekends, and no one wanted to hang out during the week. Our RA half-assed her job to make floor-bonding things, and once left an event herself halfway through without telling anyone why. When I tried to spend time with the people in the dorm, I found myself shut out; they either texted of talked to someone else on the phone. I found that the school relied heavily on cliques. However, the school's Presbyterian ministry was fabulous, and I wish that I had gone there more; the people there were kind. Both the students and the pastors and other assorted adults welcomed everyone—religious or not.

The education you get depends on the teacher you get. I had a Biology teacher who answered a question that I had after class with "Look it up." He went through coursework at an alarmingly fast rate, and I found that almost none of the material that he did cover was put into the test. I would have done better reading the textbook cover to cover than going to class and taking notes. Rumor has it that he's the better of the two Biology teacher. My Psychology teacher was nice, but didn't have much time to answer questions out of class. She was thorough, though, and I feel like I learned a lot. My English teacher was a nice guy, and it was my favorite class to go to, but he babied the entire class. He helped us write our essays and walked us through how to write a beginning paragraph. I also found it alarming that everyone that I talked to was in remedial math, but I never took a math class there myself.

The campus was pretty and green and well-kept, the only thing that was bad about going outside were the preachers who visited about once a week. Some were non-obtrusive and read from the Bible, and some called all of the girls in crowd that watched them whores and said that all other religions are "wrong" and that every person on the campus was going to Hell.

The food on campus left a lot to be desired. I have heard of so many of the places giving students food poisoning. The choices are almost entirely unhealthy and coated in grease.

I transferred after one semester. My community college is much more rigorous than UofL.
