I attend classes at a satellite site, and I
really like it. The teachers that I have had were
all really accessible, and knew what they were talking about.
I continually tell my friends at the main campus that
it's worth it to come to my site just for
the teachers, they really are top rate. The
satellite campus I attend is very small, with only a
few classrooms. In the morning, though, they have early college
kids, so there really aren't any morning classes. That was
a problem for me, as I prefer to do extra-curricular
things in the afternoon, but oh well.
The staff
at my site are very friendly, and are always willing
to help me. If I see some of my teachers
in the hall, they will stop and talk to me.
The class work isn't difficult for me, and if you
keep up with the reading assignments.
There are plenty
of students attending my site, but they don't tend to
form “clubs”. Yes, you will make friends with your classmates,
but there isn't really anything to do in the surrounding
city. I know there are clubs on the main campus,
but for someone like me on a satellite site, there
isn't much to do. The main campus is right by
Liberty University, so there is plenty to do in the
surrounding city there.
All in all, my time
at CVCC has completely been worth it, and I would
do it again in a heartbeat. I look forward to
going to class every time, and will be very sad
next semester when I have to go to the main
campus for classes that aren't offered at my site.
