Major: Nursing (This Major's Salary over time)
People choose this school because they want a fast track to their career. What they don't know is that if they have problems with teachers too lazy to actually teach, or material not covered as outlined in the course curriculum the Program Directors position collectively seems to be that these are accelerated programs, too bad for you. I personally haven't been challenged yet but I came in with a decent foundation of medical knowledge. Those that don't have any experience will probably feel lost because very few instructors are actually interested in teaching. This is a good school if you have a strong foundation in the material to be covered in your programs or you are very good at teaching yourself. The faculty really are only interested in their paychecks. Doing the actual work they're being paid to do, not so much. Teachers are too lazy to actually teach, we spend more than a third of in class time watching videos, which while occasionally relevant are horribly outdated (circa 1980s, really. It's health care, and these people are still unsure whether you need standard precautions to simply touch someone who is HIV positive) and with more than a million dollars in tuition for my 38 student class alone, I'm willing to bet they could buy updated material if they made learning a priority. In several programs I keep hearing about instructors tolerating cheating whether it's cell phone use during finals (I'll just hide it in my lab coat) or outright statements that "cheating is alright as long as you come together as a team." When we ask what's going to be done about anything the answer is always "That's been addressed." Addressed how? As far as I'm concerned, cheating in health care is murder, and tolerating it makes you an accomplice. This school has been incredibly difficult to work with as a veteran. It's not that I'm asking for special treatment, just that I want them to fill out the paperwork required for the school to be paid on time, so that I can get paid too. I do my paperwork in a timely manner and I don't see why it has to be a constant battle to get them to do things within a month of my requesting it. If I don't bother them constantly, nothing gets done. Many students I know are having the same issues with unemployment. One of the other veterans was FOUR months behind in payments because he was too nice to ask what was taking them so long.
