I transferred to Suffolk after going to a small all girls junior college because I spent the summer after jr. college graduation in Boston and fell in love with the city. Boston is awesome and opportunities and culrural activities abound in the city itself. That being said, Suffolk did not provide a good "traditional" college experience. My friends were mostly the people I met at jr. college that were still in Boston and people I met working, I did meet people through an internship I had at the State House through Suffolk - although they did not attend Suffolk. The professors at Suffolk were engaged and connected and helpful, the students mainly already had friends from high school and the school totally lacked school spirit. To be fair, when I went there it was mostly a commuter school. I was a live-in babysitter for a Beacon Hill family for my room and board. I had a membership to the MFA, BPL, MOS, got discounts to the BSO, attended concerts and lectures regularly, rode my bike on the Esplanade, attended church at St. Leonards in the North End and met my husband thru sailing at Community Boating on the Charles. College is, as is life - what you make it. Suffolk is not an idyllic college experience, but the education is solid and the opportunities yours for the taking.
