College is complicated because everybody comes in with hugely different expectations. Can I say that Knox College fulfilled each dream of mine? No. Can I say that Knox College is and will remain a huge influence on my life and my well being. Yes!

I think one thing that brings people to Knox is that people know you. It is like living in a small town, where you know see somebody you know at every turn, and feel inclined to reach out to those who you do not know. With any small community, the closeness can be both a blessing and a curse.

I have heard a lot of stipulation about "how smart knox is" or "how selective knox is". I would say that Knox is inspiring in that almost everybody I know (as a senior) is pretty heavily involved in a few different activities. I think this is something that gets lost on people when they first come to this school. I have found that the environment is a relaxed academic enthusiasm. I know so many people that end up going to their professor's homes for dinner and engaging in really great conversations in all sorts of settings outside of the classroom, paper, and exam setting.

That being said, Knox has a great deal of people that seem fairly normal, but are a little quirky when you get down to it. Some are very quirky. Some are downright strange. Most people I run into are pretty easy going and open minded. The staff is open and warm, and the administration is generally great to work with.

I think Knox encapsulates a large realm of people, from all different places. If you are open minded, relaxed, but enthusiastic about pursuing your own projects and getting involved with a small community of other enthusiastic (but also quite different!) individuals, then I think you probably fit in with what Knox has to offer.

Also, on the art department and art history. It isn't art school, but the staff really pushes you and I think that the ability to think critically and articulate ideas as a liberal arts student really helps knox art students.
