Major: Political Science (This Major's Salary over time)
I am currently a junior at Ramapo majoring in political science. The American/International studies department is very good and probably one of the better academic programs at the school. For the most part, the professors I have had since the beginning of my sophomore year have been very good. The class sizes are small, even in the gen ed classes which is helpful. Professors are approachable and will help students in need. On-campus housing is one of the better aspects of the school. The dorms are well-maintained and so are the apartments. Ramapo isnt a great school for a social life though. I have found it hard to make friends for whatever reasons. Students seem to be arrogant and close-minded and really dont go out of their way to meet people. The girls are so-so. I havent seen too many cute ones strolling around. The food sucks and you get sick of it after a while. I got off a mealplan to save money and because I was sick of the same food. Depending on the type of person you are, I still cant recommend this school to anybody. If you're a social person, I definitely would not recommend attending Ramapo. But I am a quiet, laid back person and I still can't recommend Ramapo. It's a good school if you decide to commute, but other than that, I wouldn't want to live here again for four years. Even the surrounding town is not that exciting. The nice dorms and nice scenery will draw you in, but the bottom line is, I feel like I am not receiving the best education for the money Im spending. Many times, I feel like I am in high school and not in a college setting. All in all, I am sure those reading this are Bergen County/surrounding county residents deciding on Ramapo as a local option. Look into Rutgers if you want a better education and more social interaction.
