Negative: Like everyone else has said, the campus social scene is a little lacking. However, it's not difficult AT ALL to get involved. So, I think people should stop complaining and break out of their comfort zone. If anything, one of the most negative things about Goucher is the fact that people complain non-stop about the dumbest things ever. The negativity gets really old and makes the college experience not enjoyable at all, but this could be applied to any college situation. To the people who complain about mice - Really? Just about every university/college has mice or something worse. Deal. Lived in Boston for a while. Now those are some mice-infested apartments. Much worse than Goucher's mice "problem." I have never had mice in my room. Ever. Keep your room clean, don't have food lying around and you probably won't experience a mouse problem.

Another negative is the lack of courses. Since the school is so small, they can't offer as many courses as a large university because there just aren't enough people to fill the classes. If you can find 3 hours a day to travel to another college in the area and back, then you can probably take extra courses, which (as long as you have that extra time) is extremely easy to coordinate. I've never had any issues working with the staff.

Positives: The staff is fantastic. I have loved all but one of my professors. My major and minors are very time consuming and I am definitely being challenged to go above and beyond by my professors and course work. I went to a prep-college for high school and did way more work than I do at Goucher, but then again, no one takes 7 - 9 college-type courses daily at any college, really. If you can get off of campus or have friends that have a car, then traveling into Baltimore is definitely worth it. Also, you can take a train for $7 to D.C. (train station is accessible through the college town shuttle). I've gone to numerous concerts and parties throughout my 3 years here. Just have to be willing to step outside your comfort zone and actually talk to people/not complain a lot because then people won't want to be around you.
