The difficulty of your classes truly depends on the teacher you have and the classes you're taking. The classes are the same as the ones you would take at a public state school or private university, it just costs less, which means that some of the more difficult classes, such as physics, is just as difficult as if you took it anywhere else. However, the education is probably better than at a public state school or private university because the teachers here truly care about you as a student and will work with you to make sure you take everything possible away from a class. As far as extracurriculars are concerned you must make the initiative to be social with others because most people just attend school and then spend the rest of the time working, so clubs and sports are the best way to get to know other people.
