I was in the Film program, and remember having a great time at Full Sail. The people were very friendly, nice weather and not too far from the beach. However, now that I have 5 years in the industry under my belt and now realize I will be paying off my student loans until the day I die.

Financially, it is NOT worth it. It will end up costing you 40K between tuition and cost of living, and what they wont tell you is that you can't get sufficient federal loans and are forced to acquire private loans. The problem is that the interest rates usually double within a year of graduation. I would advise to save up 5K and move out to your city of choice, then try to get a gig as an intern/P.A. In L.A. when trying to break into the biz, graduating from film school is about as relevant as graduating from cotton candy making school.

By the way, the placement department is a joke. About 2 years ago, I was looking to hire some local FL production assistants for a major network shoot and contacted the placement department to link me up with some grads. Two days later, still no returned call. I had to call the head of the program just to make any progress. It's a real problem when Oprah's people return calls faster than Full Sail… I mean, really?

Just my two cents.

Responses
responseI have a friend who graduated from their film program and went straight to work on a major motion picture. It's a hard industry. If you're an actor without talent you can't really expect a job straight out of school because you have a degree. (Not saying you don't have talent.)
