Hmm… These reviews are very interesting. I am a freshmen here and I just had to post. It is 3:30 in the morning (the day after St. Patty's) and I can here someone outside my room talking about how they got kicked out of a club. Someone mentioned screaming at 3 in the morning. Well, that's true and there seems to be quite the fascination with big trucks at this school. One in particular has a frighteningly loud horn that will wake you out of your sleep. My mom has a house in Tampa but since I live in the new dorms (Magnolia Hall) I usually stay here for the weekend. It is true, however, that a fair number of students leave. I'm starting to realize that Tampa is not the best college town. I'm originally from Fort Myers so I do enjoy the big city but it's lacking. As for academics, profs, and classes: it's a mixed bag. I haven't been here long enough to really get a feel for everything. My English teacher (she was African-American btw, if that matters) really became irritating. She kept talking about how she could shop at all these expensive stores like Neiman Marcus and Nordstrom. My ethics teacher was very snooty as well. She was the odd ball female philosopher. She had to tell us of her wealthy upbringing- how she went to Duke and was successful and seemed to disparage the class. She also was clearly conservative and was trying to push her ideas on us. Other than that, they were fine. Certainly respectable and intelligent. I also had some experience with poor speakers of English. My math teacher and my chem lab TA. I guess that's expected though.
