I am a freshman and I am transferring after this year. This school has a great reputation and it is one of the up and coming universities but in order to go here, it definitely depends what kind of person you are. If you are looking for the typical college experience do not come here. This school has a very professional environment and I have not found the majority of students friendly or approachable. Everyone is here to do their co-ops, do good in school, and get a job and go into their field of work as soon as possible. If you want to come here you either have to be someone like this, or someone who will find other things to do in boston and not rely on the school at all. When I have gone out it has been mostly to parties and frats that are not connected to NEU at all. Boston is a fun city, especially for those over 21. However, if you want a typical college experience with frats, football games, sports, school spirit, and friendliness, do not come here. It is definitely unlike most colleges, because of its location right in the city and because of the 5 year structure. You definitely need to be serious about jobs and working, and not care that this will take away from the social and fun aspect that most colleges should have. I picked Northeastern because I knew how good of a school it is and the reputation it had, and I figured the social life, dorm life, etc would be just as fun as any other school but i was wrong. In my dorm, no one talks to each other and there's no hanging out in other peoples rooms or going out with your whole floor like I expected college to be like. Its just a very stuffy competitive unfriendly environment and I wish I had gone somewhere else.

responseDid you visit this school before applying here? Did you come to 'hang out' just for a day and get a feel for it? May be not. If you did you could have avoided the unfriendly professionals who are there to study and learn and then get the hell out because not a lot of people these days can afford to 'hang out' and fraternize with college friends. It is not high school. It is called college. And there is no baby sitting either! Fast and furious.
responseI couldn't possibly agree more on every single point. There are thousands of opportunities here but with few people to share them with its not college at all.
responseI agree with this review too! NEU is an expensive school and with co-op starting to be put on the backburner, it's not worth the money.

I also transferred my freshman year because I had a very difficult time in my program (computer science). It was hard to find people that were friendly and willing to help. Every time I asked a question it felt like I was really bothering someone or it was a dumb question. Already having 3 internships at 2 companies by the time I got to NEU, the staff treated me like I had no idea what an internship was and catapulted me into this uncomfortable, cut throat environment where if I didn't get a job for some big corporation in Boston or NYC I looked like a failure. Also, the staff in the CS department (the advisors mainly) were clueless. They were no help whatsoever.

commentI completely agree with this review! My roommate and I are both freshmen as well and are transferring for the exact same reasons. This is a great school for the right kind of people however if that's not you, this isn't the place to be.
commentI also definetly agree with many of these points. And i agree with one of these responses, if I ever need help or ask someone a question I feel like I am bothering them or they judge me and label me as stupid and many of my friends here agree on this. I feel as though people arent here to help eachother out, but to compete against eachother and do as well in their classes as possible. I know that people should do well in college and try, but they should still do it in a friendlier way. Also, administration and advisors aren't much help at all. There is so much pressure to go into a major but you basically have to figure out everything on your own. It depends on the type of person you are if you'll like it here, so really do your research! And i hope these comments help someone else and warn them about things that I never realized until I got here.
questionWhen did you post your comments?
What other schools were you accepted into? For computer science, which companies did you apply to for a co-op? Do CS majors tend to hang with each other?
commentBut this is to some extent right to go to the college to obtain degree and find the job. Really, if one wants to have easy life and study less, then this college is not for you. I heard that it is difficult to cheat on professors, I will have to writemyessay4me myself to ear points. All in all, I love your review, fair enough, I couldn't expect something else from that institution and I still have intention to apply to that college.

comment"This was the wholesale baseball jersers most special game today for us," Matheny said. "It took a little bit of everything. It took the entire roster."
Gant wasnt even on the roster until a few hours prior to first pitch, oakland athletics jersers swung up from Memphis as insurance to cover innings John Brebbia could not, after Brebbias three-inning save Wednesday. Gant entered after Martinez tied cincinnati reds jersers the game with a two-out double in the 10th, then breezed through a full turn of the Mets lineup unscathed.
