During the tour of this school, they essentially pull the wool over your head. What you see during the tour is a very nice school, nice students, etc. I was snapped into reality on move in day! This school has lowered there admission standards to a dangerously low level. For this class, 5% had a HS GPA of below a 1.0 and 18% had a GPA between 2.0-1.0. If you live in the dorms, you will deal directly with this. Through my first semester, I dealt with music blasting on weekdays to around 4-5am, theft out of my room, my door being kicked in as a joke(?), suitemates smoking weed in my room all the time, random losers in my room at all hours of day and night, etc. The list just goes on. I am not alone apparently after talking to many other students who have had the same problem as I. I have a feeling that Dowling is going to have an insanely high transfer rate after this year. The only reason I went here was due to the fact that this was one of the only aviation programs in the northeast. Aviation program is fine, but you also must take core classes, in which many of these kids are disruptive and rude to the professor which in turn affects YOUR learning experience.

If this is not enough, the police are frequent visitors to this school. Over the first semester, I can count atleast 13 times that I have been aware of the police arriving. The have been more as I am not aware every time they arrive. Some of the incidents include fights at 330AM in front of the entire student body after the fire alarm is pulled, fights where K9 units had to respond, 2 kids getting "jumped" at ~1AM by 13 random kids in 2 cars, etc. Guess what, all the students involved in these incidents still attend here even after they committed numerous other offenses.

Please, spend the money and go somewhere else. It will be cheaper as you wont have to transfer and lose half your credits. This college(maybe?) is not a place for learning, instead, they cater to lower GPA students. I honestly have no clue how some of these students have graduated high school, let alone get into college. This school recruits in the city, which is not a bad thing at all, but when you recruit city kids with an extremely low GPA, problems result.
