I decided to go to this university because I wanted to get as far away from home without going to an out-of-state college. I joined a sorority (Sigma Kappa) thinking that it would help me make friends. Unfortunately both the Greek life as well as the rest of the SIU campus wanted to do one thing and one thing only: party. Although I do not mind going to parties, there are the same parties every weekend. It gets old fast, especially in the winter months. The greeks spend their time barhopping and ignoring "GDI's" (God Damn Independents) while getting completely smashed almost every night. The students are snooty and rude. I was able to meet few great people and it is a shame that I was not able to meet more. Given the opportunity to do it again, I would only because I met the few people that I met. Other than that, it was not a good choice.
