It breaks my heart to read some of these negative reviews. I graduated some years back and though the UoR has changed in ways I might not be aware, I can assure you you will look back on your time there quite fondly. I'm certain that we complained plenty about the food, certain professors, certain policies and the town of Redlands. However, after leaving, those are not the memories that last. Rather, I remember the inspiring environment, both physical and social, the friendly students and faculty, and the challenging and enriching academics. Furthermore, it is so delightful to run into former alumni so many years later. The Redlands experience is so unique that there's much to talk about and remenisce over. I hope potential students will give this gorgeous, friendly and intellectually stimulating school a chance. I'm confident that those who told of their difficulties with the Universtiy will one day look back as fondly as the U of R as I do. (One reason I believe I have some perspective on the U of R is that I attended a large, prestigious state school for my graduate studies. Despite its excellent reputation, my experience in the large school environment put the Redlands experience into sharp relief. The food's not so bad and the administration much less bureaucratic than many current students might think. Finally, there is an appreciation of the individual at Redlands that is not found on most other campuses.)
